A delegation led by VP Ming Chen present at 2019 GAP


2019 Global Academic Program Annual Conference was held in Huston from April 30 to May 2, which gathered together over 1,000 clinical staff and scientists from more than 40 countries to enjoy the grand academic feast.


A delegation of 9 faculties from Zhejiang Cancer Hospital attended the conference, leading by executive president Ming Chen.


On April 29, 2019, VP Ming Chen and Director Xiaoling Liu from International Cooperation Office attended the pre-GAP Conference 2019 Leadership Roundtable. Prof. Kupferman, the vice president of MD Anderson Cancer Center, introduced the present situation and future of the global cancer prevention cooperation network. The good news was that three projects of our hospital are included in Sister Institution Network Fund’s (SINF) top 20 this year. Roundtable also announced that GAP Conference next year would be held in Australia.



The annual Global Academic Programs (GAP) Conference is a forum where MD Anderson Cancer Center and its global network of hospitals, health systems and research institutions collaborate to develop impactful, innovative ideas and research that help MD Anderson achieve its mission to end cancer globally.


This three-day scientific conference centered our attention on the theme – Innovation and Collaboration to Transform Care. Global collaborations were the highlights of the conference that bring to light clinical and translational research, population health and government engagement initiatives.


During the conference, Dr. Jun Cao with Dept. of Comprehensive Medical Oncology and Ms. Hongqin Liu, the Head Nurse of Dept. of Thoracic Surgery delivered an oral presentation respectively, of which Ms. Hongqin Liu’s abstract was admitted as “the best oral abstracts”. Dr. Dening Ma with Dept. of Colorectal Surgery, Dr. Aiwen Zheng with Dept. of Gynecological Surgery, Dr. Yang Yang with Dept. of Thoracic Radiation, Dr. Xu Qian with Clinical Laboratory and Dr. Chen Zhu with Zhejiang Provincial Office for Cancer Prevention and Control present poster respectively on their research to foster communication.
